5 million NOK to decode the misregulation of translation during metastasis
The abundance of RNA in cancers cell are not very predictive of their protein content and combined with the evidence for misregulation of protein synthesis this has strongly implicated translational regulation as one of the key culprits in cancer.
At this years award ceremony group leader Eivind Valen at the Computational Biology Unit was awarded 5 MNOK from Kreftforeningen to investigate the misregulation of translation in cancer. The project is in collaboration with Dr. Nils Halberg at the Department of Biomedicine, a former awardee of Kreftforeningen.
